Zanele is a director and co-founder of the firm, with a successful track record having served her articles and has worked for UK law firm, Leigh Day. In 2005 Zanele co-founded Garratt Mbuyisa Neale Attorneys which became Mbuyisa Neale Attorneys in 2012. She then went on to help establish Mbuyisa Moleele Attorneys in January 2017. Each of the previous law firms holds a significantly successful track record in litigation as well as settlement negotiation.

In her 19 years of experience in practice, she has been involved in the following cases, to name a few:

  • Afrika vs Cape PLC asbestos case;
  • Blom v Anglo American;
  • Anglo American and Anglo Gold Ashanti case where she represented 4500 ex-miners suffering from silicosis;
  • The Spear of the Nation case in which she represented City Press; as well as;
  • The breakthrough in changing precedent in the SATF v Media 24 and City Press case.
  • Zanele Mbuyisa provides advice on legal matters includes media law to Open Secrets

Zanele has been appointed the in-house counsel for PPLAAF, a platform for the protection of whistle blowers in Africa. 

She is also the co-founder of Haki Legal Clinic.

phineas moleele

Phineas Moleele is one of the two directors of the firm and has 15 years knowledge and experience in the legal and information communication technology sector. He has served in various senior and managerial positions at ICASA as well as in various projects relating to licensing and spectrum management from both broadcasting and telecommunications perspectives. 

He is responsible for matters relating to civil litigation, debt collection, criminal law, family law, insolvency law, information technology law, regulation and policy development, as well as the administration of estates and trusts. 

He is also co-founder of Haki Legal Clinic.

Area of expertise

Tshegofatso is an associate at the firm.

She works closely with Zanele Mbuyisa on class action matters. Her and Sebastian are the main people handling all Haki Legal Clinic litigation, in addition to the litigation in the firm.

Tshego’s practices in both Magistrates and High Courts. As part of her work at Haki Legal Clinic, she also donates her time at various Old Age Homes in Soweto by assisting the elderly with settling their Estates.

Tshego and Sebastian are the co-authors of the PLAAFF country reports.

She is currently working closely with Motswasele Mogotsi on Revenue matter.

Area of expertise

Sebastian graduated with an LLB in 1999 and proceeded to serve articles at Wits Law Clinic. He worked as a legal consultant for Royal Yard Holdings (Pty) Ltd in 2003 to 2005. He has also worked at Omphile Kedijang Attorneys as litigation specialist and later at Motswasele Mogotsi Attorneys as tax litigation specialist.

He is currently assisting as a Practice Manager at Haki Legal Clinic. Sebastian has extensive experience in Labour Law and appearing at tribunals such as CCMA. He also has extensive experience in civil and criminal litigation.
